Two Numbers and One Fact to Remember: Nebraska’s Retail Electricity Rates Among Lowest in U.S.

April 6, 2018

“Competitive electric rates are something that Nebraska Public Power District strives to maintain,” said NPPD Economic Development Manager, Mary Plettner. “Electric rates and reliability are just two factors that make Nebraska a competitive location for business. NPPD’s Retail Division, for example, has not had a rate increase in 5 years, while maintaining high reliability and customer service.”

Altogether, Nebraska’s electric utilities provide their customers with the 16th lowest average electricity retail price in the country at an average rate of 9.16 cents-per-kWh. This rate compares favorably to the overall U.S. average of 10.54 cents according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration Electric Power Monthly February 2018 report.
