Nebraska Public Power District Recognized by International Economic Development Council
NPPD recently received a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award for its Petersburg Community Guide Lite project, in the category of General Purpose Print Brochure from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The honor was announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 19, during the IEDC Annual Conference.
“We are flattered to receive this award from IEDC,” said Mary Plettner, NPPD Economic Development Manager. “The Community Guide Lite is a publication that any NPPD-served community can take advantage of and this recognition illustrates the value of such a document to a community’s economic development efforts.”
The Community Guide Lite was created as a resolution for smaller communities to obtain a colorful, informative book showcasing their community. The book contains vital data and illustrates community photos in an effort to promote business growth and quality of life. This shorter version of the original Community Guide claims a more concise response time with less research by the community. The outcome displays an attractive tool to attract a diverse labor pool of skilled, talented professionals.
“On behalf of the IEDC board of directors and Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee, congratulations to Nebraska Public Power District. Not only did they work to provide a necessary service to their community; but also, their participation in the awards program sheds light on their stellar projects which other communities can now use as a benchmark.” Michael Langley, FM, CEO of GREATER MSP, Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN, and 2017 IEDC Board Chair
