Nebraska Public Power District was recently recognized by Site Selection with an Honorable Mention as a Top Utility in Economic Development.
“This year’s Top Utilities excel at enhancing corporate location decision-making with business intelligence, teamwork and service,” says Managing Editor Adam Bruns of Site Selection.
“We are extremely pleased to be recognized for our efforts,” said Mary Plettner, NPPD Economic Development Manager. “Our role is to support our communities and customers, and we are only successful if they are. Economic development is truly a team game.”
Site Selection’s annual rankings of Top US Utilities in Economic Development is based on analysis of corporate, end-user project activity in 2016 as collected from Conway Projects Database and submitted materials from utilities, as well as website tools and data; innovative programs and incentives for business, including energy efficiency and renewable energy programs; and the utility’s own job-creating infrastructure and facility investment trends.
“Utilities play a key role as participants in the economic development efforts of cities, regions and all areas working to improve their local business climate,” says Editor-in-Chief Mark Arend. “This year’s Top Utilities were particularly successful in this endeavor in 2016.”
Only twenty utilities were recognized by Site Selection as a Top Utility or Honorable Mention. The magazine has been publishing the recognition rankings since 1999.
