K&M Tire, Inc., a national tire distributor, will begin breaking ground on a new distribution center in North Platte, Neb., beginning this month. This brand new distribution center will be located in the Twin Rivers Business Park.
K&M Tire, based in Delphos, Ohio, will build a 50,000-square-foot center on 7.3 acres across Twin Rivers Road from the FedEx Ground facility, said Gary Person, president and CEO of the North Platte Area Chamber & Development Corp.
It distributes more than 50 tire brands, including the nation’s major tire labels, through 32 distribution centers in the Great Plains, Midwest and New England.
“K&M Tire is pleased to announce the opening of a new location in North Platte, NE,” says Cheryl Gossard, President of K&M Tire. “This is not only an opportunity to bring more jobs to the area, but it also allows us to further expand our distribution capabilities and meet the growing needs of the market.”
The new facility plans an initial hire of up to ten warehouse/driver positions to occupy the 50,000 square foot distribution center. While the new distribution center will initially be set up for will calls and daily deliveries to local customers, it will also serve as a warehousing and cross docking location for other K&M Tire distribution centers as well.
“We are very pleased that K & M Tire chose North Platte for its Nebraska based distribution center as the company continues to expand its service territory west,” said Gary Person, President & CEO of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation.
“The Chamber & Development-owned Twin Rivers Business Park continue to prove to be a critical asset in our goal to further diversify and expand our business community,” Person said. “Having a shovel ready site-controlled business park is critical when business looks to expand or even begin new operations. It allows us to market North Platte on a national basis and that is how we were able to connect with K&M Tire.”
Twin Rivers Business Park was established near the Wal-Mart Distribution Center and is also home to Cabela’s/Bass Pro Call Center; Fed-Ex Ground and a nine-warehouse/business plaza for Iron Trail Industrial Park developed by Prataria Ventures and Chief Industries. Person said there may be another announcement later this summer for a local business distribution company modernizing and expanding its operation at the Twin Rivers Park.
“We are excited to welcome K&M Tire to Nebraska and congratulate the community of North Platte, Gary and his team at the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation for bringing another business to the Twin Rivers Business Park,” said Nicole Sedlacek, Nebraska Public Power District Economic Development Manager. “Having a shovel-ready site like Twin Rivers is a key criteria businesses look to when thinking about expansion, and is one of the reasons why we implemented our Site Readiness Assistance Program.”
