Got . . . Dairy Operations? Come to Nebraska!

Got … dairy operations? Come to Nebraska!

Grow Nebraska Dairy Team travels across America promoting state’s advantages

An effort to promote Nebraska as a location for dairy production and processing has taken team members literally from coast to coast this past year. Nebraska dairy representatives traveled to  conferences and trade shows held at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) Dairy Forum in Orlando, Florida and the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California, to name a few.

“With the support and encouragement from a variety of dairy stakeholders in Nebraska, our Grow Nebraska Dairy team is taking the message of water, land and opportunity across the country, to let the industry know we are open for business” states Rod Johnson, Nebraska Dairy Association. “We have actively identified potential processor sites, and are working with various communities who have expressed interest and are willing to support dairy as a part of the economic growth in their region.”

Grow Nebraska Dairy is a coalition of dairy stakeholders in Nebraska, working to develop and expand the dairy industry. The stakeholders include the Nebraska State Dairy Association, Nebraska Department of Agriculture and Department of Economic Development, University of Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Public Power District, and the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (AFAN), a coalition of all Nebraska commodities, in support of animal agriculture.

“Nebraska Public Power District is pleased to be a partner in this important effort,” said Brian Vasa, Economic Development Consultant and Grow Nebraska Dairy team member. “Nebraska has all the important inputs such as access to one of the largest fresh water aquifer’s in the world and an abundance of high yielding low cost feed sources that can make this industry grow and thrive across our service territory.”
