Top 10 rankings in regulatory environment (4), business costs (7) and quality of life (6) propelled Nebraska to the #4 spot in Forbes’ 2017 ranking of best states for business. This marks the third consecutive year the state has ranked in the top 4 best states.
“Such rankings are important to the prospects we work with.” said Mary Plettner, CEcD, NPPD Economic Development Manager. “Nebraska’s competitive electric rates are one of several factors contributing to the low business cost ranking. NPPD continues to strive to provide reliable energy at a competitive price to allow our businesses to grow.”
For instance, Nebraska Public Power District’s overall base average rate is fourth best in the country when compared to the overall average for all states, and 23 percent below the national average.
Other categories and Nebraska’s rank included labor supply rank (17), growth prospects (22) and economic climate (25).
