La Vista, NE – Rick Nelsen of Lincoln was named the Nebraska Economic Developers Association (NEDA) Professional of the Year in the service provider category May 29 in La Vista. Nelsen is a senior economic development consultant with Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).
Nelsen was recognized for his accomplishments and dedication to economic growth and the economic development profession. The selection committee recognizes honorees for their efforts to foster jobs and investment, innovation, organizational effectiveness and leadership in the profession and in NEDA.
Nelsen’s nomination application states, “Whenever Rick is working, he is representing the profession and our association with pride.” It goes on to say, “He is acquainted with most community leaders in all sizes of communities. He is generous with his time and expertise, always willing to serve any way he can when asked.”
Before working at NPPD, Nelsen worked in economic development roles at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Nelsen commented, “It is an honor to be recognized by my peers. I am lucky enough to do work that I enjoy and can feel like I am helping make a difference. I am thankful for the NPPD Economic Development Team and NPPD in general. Without their support I would not be receiving this award.”
