KEARNEY, Neb. – Brian Vasa of Ogallala was named the Nebraska Economic Developers Association (NEDA) Professional of the Year in the service provider category on June 11 during the association’s annual conference in Kearney. Vasa is a senior economic development consultant and account manager with Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).
Over his career in economic development, Vasa has supported recruitment and expansion efforts across Nebraska and strengthened statewide competitiveness through NPPD’s economic development tools and site-readiness initiatives. Known for his preparation, mentorship and commitment to helping communities grow, Vasa has also served in key leadership roles, including past president of the Nebraska Economic Developers Association as well as past president of the Mid America Economic Development Council, and continues to contribute through regional boards and organizations. His work has earned national honors, including recognition among the Top 50 Economic Developers and the Industrial Asset Management Council Fellow designation. His investment in mentoring professionals, building long-term business relationships and growing his own industry knowledge base are why he has been a successful part of the NPPD team,” Vasa’s nominator stated.
Vasa’s career spans 47 years in various roles at NPPD. He has been a part of the utility’s economic development team for 26 years. He is particularly known for his work in Nebraska’s ethanol industry.
