Ag Processing, Inc., a $700 million soybean crushing plant recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in David City and plans to be fully operational by August.
A multimillion-dollar investment that will help grow and develop the city.
“It boosts our business and our local business. It’s helped bring up revenue sales tax, which is quite exciting for all of us,” Jessica Miller, David City Mayor, said.
The plant is expected to create between 60 and 80 new jobs, which the city believes will have a ripple effect, leading to a boom in the economy.
“Just having that more revenue, more traffic flow, you know, and we’re the only one from east to west, David City is the only one, so I mean that’s awesome to put us on the map,” Miller excitedly shared.
A goal to be put on the map aligns perfectly with the city’s ongoing developmental projects to revitalize the downtown area and build more housing projects.
“We’ve had some families move in, which is great because we have two school systems,” Miller noted. “As far as downtown goes, you know, it looks pretty busy and thriving. We hope it to be thriving a little bit more.”
The city said it is considering adding an entertainment district in addition to the other developmental projects currently underway, which include a new hotel just outside of town.
