Thousands descended upon Atlanta, Georgia, for the return of the in-person International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), Jan. 25-27 after moving to a virtual event last year. A Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD)-led team attended the world’s largest annual poultry, meat and animal food industry event.
Rick Nelsen, Senior Economic Development Consultant, and Lyndsy Jenness, Economic Development Consultant, were joined by Daren Waters, Economic Development Consultant at the Nebraska Department of Economic Development; Ron Tillery, Executive Director of the Phelps County Development Corporation; and Steve Martin, Executive Director of the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (AFAN).
The team’s primary objective was to network with conference attendees and tout Nebraska as a prime location for businesses to relocate or expand. The team was particularly focused on equipment and input manufacturers as well as engineering and construction firms who often perform site selection duties for clients.
While at the expo, the team was able to connect with more than 20 companies with connections to Nebraska. as well as meet with one of the leading site selection consultants in the country.
“We have consistently attended IPPE in recent years and our conversations about Nebraska are well-received,” said Rick Nelsen. “Our location, reliable energy and ag resources are strong selling points for us and our team did an outstanding job communicating our strengths.”
The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is a collaboration of three shows – International Feed Expo, International Meat Expo and the International Poultry Expo – representing the entire chain of protein production and processing. The event is sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), North American Meat Institute (NAMI) and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY).
The show, held at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta, has historically attracted upwards of 30,000 attendees, with 1,200 exhibitors and 520,000 square feet of exhibit space.
NPPD will be representing its customers at other upcoming industry events and trade shows, notably the World Ag Expo, Feb. 8-10 in Tulare, California, alongside the Grow Nebraska Dairy team. Other event announcements are forthcoming.
