In December, NPPD announced its new, “Featured Properties Program.” The purpose of the program is to identify high‐quality, shovel or move‐in ready properties (sites and buildings) for Economic Development staff to promote during marketing visits, tradeshows and other interactions with businesses seeking to expand and considering communities within NPPD’s service area.
The “Featured Properties Program” is the outcome of more than six months of research and planning. Staff reviewed five years of requests for proposals and information to determine the features most often requested. These became the criteria for a featured property, and are:
- Controlled property with a firm price
- Minimum of 5 acres for a site or 10,000 SF for a building
- Listed on LOIS
- Part of a current comprehensive land use plan
- Completed Phase 1 Environmental
- Ability to immediately serve 1 MW additional electric load
- Natural gas, water and waste water capacity in-place, at or to the property
As of January, NPPD had seven sites and two buildings listed in the “Featured Properties Program.” These properties were featured during visits to central California and at the IPPE Show in Atlanta.
NPPD’s “Site Readiness Program” complements the “Featured Properties Program” by providing competitive grants to communities, customer communities and economic development organizations within NPPD’s service territory. These grants have been used to complete due diligence documents to help a property move to “Featured Property” status.
