  • In the beginning... The Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has had an economic development department for more than 50 years. Today, our team of 16 economic development professionals located throughout the state is available to assist you with your project needs.
  • Paper, paper, everywhere... NPPD has provided paper copies of properties, community data, and studies since 1957 (longer than some of us care to remember).
  • 1995 - Paper to digital... In 1995, we converted our paper property profiles to an online database. This initial database allowed visitors to search and view available properties throughout Nebraska. We also started publishing studies and other informational pieces online. The site was an instant success and has been evolving ever since!
  • 1996 - Community Websites...
  • Building off the success of sharing information online, NPPD began assisting communities with the development of local websites to share their economic develoment data. The program has been popular with hundreds of communities and economic development groups using the service to develop a web presence. For a full listing of these sites, visit Community Websites on www.nppd.com.

  • 1998 - Sites.nppd.com is born... Following tremendous growth in the amount of data being requested and shared online, NPPD's Economic Development Department created a stand-alone website separate from the NPPD's utility website to meet the demand for information specific to economic development. NPPD's corporate site continues to grow and includes a wealth of information about the electric utility industry - visit www.nppd.com for further information.
  • 2000 - NEDI Online becomes reality... Following the demise of paper community profiles in Nebraska, NPPD added an electronic version for every community in the state. In addition to providing the format, NPPD also keeps a base set of data updated for every community on an ongoing basis. These profiles are viewed hundreds of times each month. To see a profile, visit NEDI Community Profiles or use City Search.
  • 2001 - Customer's Gain Access... As the popularity of NEDI Community Profiles continued to grow, it made sense to open the database to communities to make their own enhancements to the profiles. NPPD continues to provide a base set of data for each profile on an ongoing basis while communities can log in and add specific, individualized comments and data throughout the profile.
  • 2005 - Property Search Expanded... Ten years after building our first online database, a new searchable sites and buildings database was launched. Similar to the community profiles, properties can now be administered online by the communities or economic development groups. In addition to opening the database to every community in the state, GIS mapping, demographic reporting, and many additional features were added.
  • 2007... A number of enhancements were introduced in 2007. Sites.nppd.com has been through three major redesigns since its inception in 1998. In the fast paced world of economic development and ever emerging technologies, the site is constantly being improved. Your input is important to us! Most of the enhancements to this website started as questions or suggestions from users. Your input is always welcome! Email your suggestions to econdev@nppd.com.
  • 2009-2010... Electronic mailings and other feeds continue to grow in popularity. New technologies and online marketing avenues continue to be utilized including LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. Plans for another redesign are beginning...
