  Stanton is the county seat of Stanton County. State Highway 24, 35 and 57 serve the communities with State Highways 15 and 32 serving the county. Stanton is 12 miles southeast of Norfolk; 83 miles southwest of Sioux City, Iowa; 113 miles northwest of Omaha; and 129 miles north of Lincoln.

Karl Stefan Memorial Airport, located in Norfolk, provides air freight, air express, and passenger services. Supplementary all-cargo service (air/truck) is available with departures daily. Taxi service and car rental provided public ground transportation.

Barge service is available at 19 barge terminal facilities on the Missouri River in Nebraska. These river ports are navigable approximately eight months per year.
