Power in the city is 2400/4160 volts throughout town and 7200/12470 volts in the east side industrial area. The 34.5 KV line connecting the substations was replaced in 2010. The city purchases power from NPPD and the 115 KV feed into town has about 50% excess capacity. |

| The City of Superior operates the municipal natural gas system, including some of the surrounding areas. The gas system uses a looped grid of 4-inch diameter mains running at 35 PSI pressure. All the gas mains have been replaced in the past five years; the city is replacing the remaining service lines internally through a multi-year program. The gas is supplied from Southern Star Pipeline Company through an 8-inch diameter feed running at more than 100 PSI pressure. The feed has about 60% excess capacity. |

| The City of Superior operates the municipal drinking water system, including some of the surrounding areas. The water is supplied from six city-owned wells with an additional two in backup. The rated pumping capacity of the wells is over 3,300 gallons per minute. In 2009, the city added the town of Hardy as a customer. | The City of Superior operates the wastewater treatment facility. The plant is currently running about 64% capacity. In 2012, the city rebuilt the primary trickling filter treatment system and associated pumps and piping througout the plant. Since 2009, the city has invested heavily sliplining the sewer mains throughout town. While many more years remain, the system will be virtually new when complete. |

| The City of Superior derived its name from early settlers who spoke of the "superior" quality of land stretching east and west along the Republican River Valley. The town was surveyed in 1875 but not incorporated until August 4, 1879. The City has an elected mayoral style of government with six council members. The crime rate is 16.5 per thousand as compared to a state average of 59. |

| Superior is steeped in tradition with the heart of the community on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1992 the Nebraska State Legislature declared Superior the Victorian Capital of Nebraska. Superior celebrates it's heritage every Memorial Weekend by hosting their annual Victorian Festival. To learn more about the history of Superior and Nuckolls County be sure to visit the Nuckolls County Museum located in Superior's City Park. The City has two parks - together both parks cover 40 acres. Park amenities include a swimming pool, picnic shelters, playground areas, band shelter, camping facilities, horseshoe/volleyball pits, disc golf, a pond for catch/release fishing, exercise equipment, tennis courts and ball fields. There are a number of youth and adult sport leagues; as well as, bowling and roller skating activities. For the hunting or fishing enthusiast, the Superior area offers abundant wildlife. Just 10 minutes south of Superior is Lovewell State Park and Lake - 1,160 acre State Park adjacent to a 3,000 surface acre reservoir. Superior's golf course is a nine-hole grass green course. After a few rounds you will appreciate the newly constructed clubhouse. Many consider shopping a recreational activity so plan to check out the historic atmosphere of the business district which is blended with modernization and offers an abundant mix of shopping for gifts and accessories. Unwind and visit one of the Midwest's premium wineries, Superior Estates Winery, where you will also be treated with style and attention. It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit ... any time is a good time. |
