  West Point is located along the Elkhorn River in eastern Nebraska. U.S. Highway 275 and Nebraska Highway 32 run through town. West Point is 75 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska, and 70 miles south of Sioux City, Iowa.

The Shirley and Jake Weber Education Center of Northeast Community College is co-located with the Donald E Nielsen Community Center at 202 Anna Stalp Avenue, West Point, Nebraska. The new 8,000+ square-foot state-of-the-art education wing has six classrooms, including a science lab, two computer labs, two interactive-television (ITV) classrooms, and a general-purpose classroom. There is a student lounge, and a conference room which also serves as a testing center and classroom. The registration area includes offices of the education center director, advisor, and NECC staff. An adjunct faculty office is located near the classroom area. The West Point Education Center offers courses leading to degrees, diplomas, and certificates in the following program areas: Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Agriculture, Business, Community, Journalism, Criminal Justice, Education, Nursing, General Studies, Computer, Basic Computer Concepts, MS Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook), QuickBooks 2008, Photoshop, Business/Industry Training, Continuing Education, Community Education. College credit courses and evening adult education are offered through Northeast Community College, Wayne State, and UNL by distance learning (visit www.northeastcollege.com). The public school includes K-12th grades (www.wpcadets.org). St. Paul Lutheran is a Preschool-8th grade school (www.stpaulwp.org/schoolhome.htm) Guardian Angels Catholic school is a Preschool-8th grade school (www.gacatholicschool.org). The Elkhorn River borders West Point, which accomodates airboating, rafting, and fishing. West Point has 3 parks - Timmerman Park offers picnicking, baseball and softball fields, sand volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts. Neligh park offers picnicking, fishing, swimming pool, baseball, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and camping. Open shelters and camping are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Our Community:West Point, the county seat of Cuming County, annually hosts the Cuming County Fair, and the Road Gems "Last Fling till Spring" Car Show. West Point is the number one hometown in Nebraska with 3,660 forward looking citizens. A library, medical clinic, and a Catholic School activity center were all financed by private donations. Our hospital and clinic have 4 resident doctors, 3 physician assistants, one surgeon, and about 20 outpatient clinics a month. Our school system has Catholic, Lutheran, and public elementary schools, and a Catholic and a public high school. There are third and fourth generation families still in the area, in both the farming and business community. West Point boasts nine churches with very active memberships. There are 4 parks, each unique in its own way. In Neligh Park there are facilities for baseball, swimming, camping, and picnicking. Timmerman Park is the center of our youth and adult softball and baseball, as well as sand volleyball and tennis. Wilderness Park is great for hiking and enjoying nature and in the winter sledding.
