The City of Ravenna employs its own Police Department. The three officers have over 45 years conbined experience in the law enforcement profession. This department received the honor of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) 2003 Outstanding Police Department of the Year and an honorable mention in 2004. In 2004 the Department won a Law Enforcement Competion Shoot. Ravenna's Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Technicians were rated excellent in a survey by Ravenna's citizens. New fire trucks, emergency unit and equipment keep these departments ready to respond to emergencies in a quick and efficient manner.

The Ravenna Jr./Sr. High School was built in 1969 and the Elementary School was built connected to the High School in 1999. A new Youth Center "Bluejay Headquarters" it located on the Eastside of the School and was built with grant funds written by Ravenna students and opened in October of 2003. "The mission of the Ravenna Public School, in partnership with family and community, is to provide, in a safe and caring environment, those skills which enable individual students to succeed as life long learners in a changing global society."

Park facilities include swimming pool, picnic areas, tables and benches, playground equipment, sand volleyball courts, three ball parks, lighted and paved tennis/basketball courts, and a skate park. Ravenna also has two arenas for local tractor pulls, demolition derbies and mud drags. Two playgrounds in Ravenna have standard playground equipment and a lot of shade trees. Golfers can enjoy playing golf on the rolling green acres of our 9-hole challenging course. The Buffalo County Recreation Area and Lake covers 100 acres and is located only 1 mile east of Ravenna. It has just recently been drenched and stocked with game fish, a new handicapped fishing dock has been constructed, it also features picnic areas, playground equipment, rest rooms, camping and overnight trailer parking, fishing, and boating facilities.

The Ravenna Medical Clinic is staffed Monday through Friday by physicians, nurses and a radiology technician. The clinic provides comprehensive primary care, including lab, X-ray, minor surgery and preventive medicine. The Ravenna Good Samaritan Center (RGSC) is a 67-bed skilled nursing facility and offers outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy. In June of 2002 RGSC opened a new 14-bed Special Care Unit for Alzheimers and other related memory loss victims. Seneca Sunrise is both an assisted and independent living facility. An exercise room, private therapeutic whirlpool, elegant central dining, library and a chapel are available.
