The Nebraska Public Power District retails electricity to the city of Oakland. A 5000/6250-kVA substation supplies the 4,160-volt grid system. A 34,500 volt sub transmission line from an 115,000-volt substation adjacent to Oakland energizes this distribution substation. This substation can be energized from several different sources to give the Oakland area extremely reliable electrical service. The system is tied into the statewide grid system by means of high voltage transmission lines. |

| The municipal water system in Oakland is supplied by three wells which have an average depth of 360 feet. The system has a combined pumping capacity of 1,275 gallons per minute and overhead storage of 210,000 gallons. The static pressure is 72 pounds and the residual pressure is 40 pounds. Ground water is available in Oakland for industrial uses. A two-foot well produces approximately 1,000 gallons of water per minute. Oakland has a rapid sand filter treatment plant which has a capacity of 600 gallons per minute. The water table has not changed significantly during the past five years. |

A $1.9 million elementary (K-6) school, media center, high school-grade school commons, cafeteria, gymnasium, indoor walking tract and instrumental music room was completed in 1984. Region IV-NorthStar Office provides community based services to people with developmental disabilites. Vocational courses are offered in home economics, agriculture, industrial arts and business. The high school offers adult educational courses in cooperation with the Northeast Community College area. |

| The Oakland City Park is a spacious 40-acre park which boasts a 100+ year old maple tree, along with an abundance of trees and flower garden areas maintained by the Oakland Garden Club. Picnic areas and shelter facilities are available. The park includes a refurbished tennis court with a basketball area beside it. A sand volleyball court is also featured. Children's play areas are furnished with swings and a "children's bridge." Two baseball diamonds are used all summer long by groups from age 5 to adult. The large baseball grandstand is also used for Burt County Fair activities. Oakland-Craig's Public School's football field and new running track are located in the Oakland City Park. |
