According to a Labor Supply Factors report that was done by Nebraska Public Power District for the community of Minden in 2008, it was determined that the Kearney County Labor Area and Kearney County would be able to provide a significant number of dedicated and skilled workers to meet the needs of additional employers in the area. It is anticipated that if attractive working conditions with competitive wages and employee benefits were offered, an employer would be able to select their workforce from a substantial pool of applicants.

The Minden Public Schools, District R-3, encompass approximately 300 square miles in south central Nebraska. Over 250 students from Kearney, Franklin, and Adams counties ride our buses each day. Our district consists of three schools: East Elementary, Grades K-3; C. L. Jones Middle School, Grades 4-8; and Minden High School, Grades 9-12. We are proud of the fact that 93% of our high school students complete high school from a freshman on and consistently rank higher than the average state or national testing percentages.

Kearney County Health Services (KCHS), www.kchs.org, provides for the healthcare needs of Kearney County and the surrounding communities. Its facilities consist of a 25-bed critical access hospital, a state of the art medical clinic, a 34-bed nursing home, and a 20-room assisted living facility, all on a shared campus. KCHS offers a 24-hour emergency room, an intensive care unit, surgery suite, in-house laboratory, radiology, skilled swing bed, and outpatient services. Rehabilitation services are contracted with partners and those services include physical, occupational, speech therapy and restorative care. KCHS is Medicare and Medicaid certified. The Minden Medical Clinic, www.kchs.org, is a certified rural health facility providing primary healthcare services for the residents of Kearney County and the surrounding communities. This state-of-the-art facility was built in 2003 on the shared campus of the hospital, nursing home, and assisted living facility. It accommodates eight modern medical exam rooms, an outpatient procedure suite, and physician offices. Specialty clinics are available in cardiology, orthopedics, urology, podiatry, gynecology and wound care.
