| The city of Madison purchases all of its power at wholesale from Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). Power is delivered to the city by means of a 34,500 volt line extending from a 115 kV substation, located six miles east of the city. This substation contains one 12.5 MVA, 115/34.5 kV transformer and is connected to the statewide power grid. The city owns and operates its distribution system along with 5,160 kW generating facility; the entire output is leased to Nebraska Public Power District. This is used for peaking power on the grid system and emergency back-up power for the city. |

| The municipal water system in Madison is supplied by three wells, which have an average depth of 140 feet. The system has a combined pumping capacity of 950 gallons per minute and an overhead storage capacity of 200,000 gallons. Groundwater is available for industrial uses. A 150-foot well will produce approximately 800 gallons of water per minute. The quality of water in Madison does not necessitate a water treatment plant. The color of the water is clear and the hardness in parts per million, is 312. The average tap water temperature is 40' in winter and 60' in summer. Chemical analysis of water in Madison is less than the method detection limit. |

| A new mechanical Wastewater Treatment Facility was completed in the fall of 2006 at a cost of $2.1 million. The new facility has an oxidation ditchwith two aeration channels with surface rotors, two clarifiers and an aerobic digester. Disinfection is completed with an ultraviolet system. |
