| The Hartington Municipal Airport, located one mile from Hartington, has a 3,500-foot, 60-foot wide paved and lighted runway and a 2,600-foot grass runway. Facilities available include an administration building, hangars, tie-downs, aviation fuel, rental cars, and telephone service. Charter service is available upon request. Seven local planes are based at this airport. The elevation is 1,384 feet. The nearest point of scheduled air service is Sioux City, Iowa 57 miles east (60 minutes) from Hartington. The Sioux Gateway Airport is served by two commercial carriers with 13 departures daily. Two air charter services, utilizing eight planes, are located at the Yankton Airport. |
| Barge service is available at 19 barge terminal facilities on the Missouri River in Nebraska. The Sioux City river port is 57 miles east of Hartington. These river ports are navigable approximately eight months per year. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains a 9-foot deep, 300-foot wide channel for 735 navigable miles from Sioux City to the mouth of the Missouri River. Commodities transported by towing companies are alfalfa pellets, cement, concrete forms, distillers' dried grain, feed, feed ingredients, fertilizer, grain, machinery, molasses, newsprint, nitrogen fertilizer solution, propylene glycol, rock-aggregate, sale, steel, and twine. |

| Hartelco, with a digital central office served by 158 miles of fiber optic cable, has provided telecommunication services to the Hartington area for more than a century where it’s home office, including installation and maintenance personnel are located. Over 51 miles of fiber optic cables were buried in 2009 creating fiber optic connections to each home and business in the immediate Hartington and Bow Valley area and providing the infrastructure and capacity for future advanced services. Fiber optics are also available within three miles of each rural resident in the Hartelco service area, providing each farm with high-speed Internet. Over 30 long distance carriers, including Hartington Long Distance, are available on an Interlata and Intralata basis. A DMS-10 digital switch is equipped with the latest software available. Calls to and from outside the Hartington exchange are quickly re-routed in the event of a cable cut. The nearest Point of Presence is Norfolk and is connected to Hartington with fiber optic facilities. Another Point of Presence is utilized in Blair, Nebraska. Both are connected with fiber optic cable.

| The Hartington public school system currently houses its total enrollment (kindergarten through twelfth grade) in one facility built in 1973. The maximum capacity in this school is 650. It is estimated that 100% of the eighth grade will finish high school. Vocational courses offered in the high school include agriculture, family and consumer science, and business. Ninety-two percent of Hartington High School graduates attend college while eight percent enter the labor market upon graduation. |

| The three parks in Hartington cover 14 acres and have a swimming pool, lighted baseball fields, tennis courts, shelter house, barbecue pits, picnic tables, benches, rest rooms, and playground equipment. Two playgrounds in Hartington have standard playground equipment.
Felber Park: Substantial improvements were made to upgrade the facility for hosting American Legion District Baseball play-offs.
Hartington Community Complex. In 2002 an outdoor sports complex was completed and includes a new football stadium, all-weather track, new soccer fields, and youth ball fields. To-date over $32,000 in grant funds have been received and over 350 trees, shrubs and beautification have been implemented for this community park!
There are excellent boating facilities at nearby Lewis and Clark Lake and the Niobrara River. |
