  Crofton is on the east border of Knox County in northeast Nebraska. The city is located on the junction of Nebraska Hwy. 12 and 121. Crofton is 55 miles north of Norfolk and 10 miles south of Gavins Point Dam and the Missouri River impoundment of Lewis and Clark Lake.

The Crofton Community School is a K-12 district located in beautiful Northeast Nebraska. Fine facilities, a dedicated professional staff and competent students make the community proud. The school district recently was awarded recognition when the Crofton elementary school was selected by PC Family Magazine as being one of the top 100 wired schools in the U.S. The secondary school has received numerous academic and athletic awards at the state level. Student performance on recent ACT scores indicated the Crofton senior high students to be some of the highest scoring ACT scores in the state of Nebraska, and well above the national average scores. Classroom assessment and success are utilized to promote educational excellence. The Crofton Community School's Mission Statement as adopted by the Board of Education states: "The mission of the Crofton Community School is to enable the students of the community to master the skills, acquire the knowledge, and develop the social/emotional behaviors and attitudes necessary for the students to become purposeful and self-respecting citizens who can successfully meet the challenges of a changing society." The exemplary success of the Crofton Community Schools is the result of a comprehensive improvement process that helps the educators of the school system accelerate learning for all students, at every grade and ability level.

Crofton's close proximity to Lewis and Clark Lake (10 minutes) makes it an ideal community to live in while enjoying the many benefits of the lake area. Excellent fishing in the lake or river can be enjoyed year-around. Hundreds of camping spots on both sides of the lake as well as below the dam make the area a popular destination. Crofton's golf course is located adjacent to Lewis and Clark Lake and just eight miles north of town, is one of the most scenic courses in the state and can be quite a challenge. Two marinas serve the east end of the lake. Their full service facilities add convienence to the enjoyment of the area.

The information provided above include the facilities at Yankton,SD (15 minutes) which is a regional healthcare center with many specialists on staff. A new surgery center has just opened in addition to the surgery facilities at the hospital. Crofton also has an excellent EMT staff that are well trained in emergency procedures. An ambulance is available 24/7. Additionally, a new Rehab and Wellness Center has just been opened at the Avera Sacred Heart Complex. Accommodating a variety of unique, medically-based services and programs. The Center houses cardiac and pulmonary rehab, outpatient physical therapy and two exercise and theraputic pools.
