| The Bloomfield Municipal Airport, 1.5 miles southwest of the community, has a 2,700-foot paved and lighted runway, tie downs, hangars, telephone, and fuel. A new administration building and new taxi ways were added in 1999. Four private planes are hangared there. |
| The Sioux City river port is 75 miles east of Bloomfield. These river ports are navigable approximately eight months per year. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains s 9-foot deep, 300-foot wide channel for 735 navigable miles from Sioux City to the mouth of the Missouri River. Commodities transported by towing companies are alfalfa pellets, cement, concrete forms, distillers' dried grain, feed, feed ingredients, fertilizer, grain, machinery, molasses, newsprint, nitrogen fertilizer solution, propylene glycol, rock-aggregate, salt, steel, and twine. |

| Bloomfield, a second-class city, has a mayor-council form of government with a city administrator. In 1997, the City of Bloomfield adopted a comprehensive plan prepared by J.E.O. of Wahoo, Nebraska. City contracts with consulting engineers for services. Bloomfield has 21.35 miles of streets, 17.15 miles of which are hard-surfaced with asphalt, bituminus, or concrete. Eighty percent of the streets have curbs and sixty-three percent have sidewalks. |
