| Zion Lutheran School is the only private school available in Bancroft. School District No. 20 in Cuming County covers 133 square miles. The district is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education and the North Central Association. In addition to a core curriculum, vocational courses offered in the high school include home economics, business, and industrial arts. Adult educational programs can be made available in the high school in cooperation with Northeast Community College. Bancroft and surrounding area preschool children area able to attend Bancroft Community Preschool. Bancroft is part of the Northeast Commununity College area which serves 20 counties in northeast Nebraska from a main campus in Norfolk. Northeast offers more than 50 technical, vocational, business and liberal arts programs. Wayne State College offers 53 majors and 35 minors in eight academic divisions. Other colleges in the region are Briar Cliff College, Morningside College, Western Iowa Tech, Midland Lutheran College, University of Nebraska at Omaha, and University of Nebraska at Lincoln. |

| The Bancroft park has playground equipment, tables, shelters, ball fields, and a camping area with four hook ups. Annual celebrations include the John G. Neihardt Day in August and Harvest Fest in October. Several ball tournaments are also held throughout the summer. |

| The Pender Community Hospital, 10 miles northwest of Bancroft, has 47 beds and 7 bassinets and is accredited by the state of Nebraska. Services include general medicine, family practice, general surgery, laboratory, pharmacy, ultrasound, echocardiology, coronary care, physical therapy, prenatal classes, mammography, radiology, swing bed care, cardiac rehab, and emergency care. Life Steps, an educational class for better diet and exercise, has recently been made available. Life Line is available via Marion Air Care of Sioux City, Iowa.
Specialists commute from Sioux City, Iowa, and Fremont, Nebraska, to provide services at the hospital for urology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, obstetrics, and gynecology.
The St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, 18 miles southwest of Bancroft, has a capacity of 49 beds and 10 bassinets. Available services include general medicine, obstetrics, prenatal care, ultrasound, laboratory, stress testing lab, CAT scans, echocardiology, radiology, mammography, acute care, swing bed care, vascular studies, cardiac care, cardiac rehab, nuclear medicine, physical therapy, infection control, pharmacy, outpatient surgery, observation, discharge planning, preoperational services, emergency care, home health care, and life lines. Free blood pressure checks, diabetic education, wellness program, social services, and mental health care are provided.
