  Alma is located on the banks of the Harlan County Lake, in the Repulican River Valley. The business district is literally a "stone's throw" from the lake. Just 7 miles from the border of Kansas and only a few miles from the geograpical center of the U.S. Highways 183 and 136 meet in Alma. Located 50 miles south and west of Kearney.
